PSA reflection

web safety PSA

  • How much effort did you exert planning and producing the PSA?
  • How does creating and sharing a digital storytelling PSA with your peers impact your future teaching?

Christine is one of the best partners I have ever had for a project. We have similar ideas, but different enough that we can do some serious brainstorming. So the actual idea for our PSA did not take long. the actual effort came with filming the PSA. we had my camera, but it ended up not being able to upload. Luckily my camera died half way through filming, so the rest of it was filmed on my computer.  The next task came with putting it all together. I have never used i-movie before, and I did not know what to expect. It was hard to start out, but once we figured out how to put in a video clip it was a lot easier. This process probably took a total of an hour of actually putting it together with sound. We had trouble picking out music for it, because we did not want to deal with copyright laws so we had to keep each clip under 30 seconds. the morphing of them wasn't hard and we wanted the abrupt sound of the alarm to signal the dangerousness of sharing your information online. Unfortunately, I did not notice till when I was writing the reflection that the very end of our PSA had some voices that were not supposed to be there. We could not hear it when we were putting the PSA together because we were working in the library and the sound was not high enough. But that is ok. Overall, I am extremely happy with the outcome of this PSA.

This project has opened doors for me. I have faith in myself for my ability to use technology. The obstacles I had I was able to quickly overcome by simply googling the answer. This gives me faith in all future pursuits I will have. My making a video for my peers really helped to show how I can influence people in my working community. By doing blogs, or vlogs, or videos, or any thing, my comrades can use what I have learned to help better their teaching, or I can use  their knowledge to better mine. I think this would be something great to use in a classroom environment as well. being able to use my peers videos to help teach my students how to properly act while using technology is Great.
